Richmond Olympic Oval

On saturday we went and checked out the new Richmond Olympic Oval. It was a very cool building and nice to walk around in, we even got to skate around as they had free rentals for anyone who wanted to go. Madison tried a pair on and even they were to big for her feet we took her out for a skate, she loved it and we will be trying that again. Afterwards we were treated to dinner at whitespot by our parents and all was well until just before we left when madison peuched her little belly out, almost got in Angelika's mouth. Needless to say Angelika left the restaurant in a t-shirt even though it was bloody cold. Lukas has been sick lately and has a nasty cough and last thursday he was up all night so Angelika was quite tired. he is getting better now and hopefully everyone is healthy for christmas time. time for church. ciao.

Where to Start

A successfull family pic

Lukas
Quite a common occurance in our house, note the sweet tool belt

the best of all our attempted family shots, i gave up and started making faces

Life has been hectic these last few weeks, we realized have a easy first child is not good for your mindset, luckily Lukas has come along to help us change that. We are enjoying our time together as a family we seem so much more like a family with two kids now, maybe cause we take that much more stuff with us when we go out or maybe cause we each get to hold a child.
Since the last update we took madisons out for Halloween to just a couple houses and she had a big bear suit on and looked pretty cool. She liked the whole idea of having a bag full of candy, as did i. Nov.10 was madisons 2nd birthday so we had both sets of parents over for cake and madison got absolutely spoiled, i still think she got too many gifts and will definitely be telling the oma and opas to calm down a little, you can always buy me a TV instead.
Our first night away from lukas for some Jacob & Angelika time happened when the new James Bond came out, we went and saw it with Andrew & Rachel Cornelsen who are quickly becoming our best friends and we seem to mesh quite well, after the movie we went for some dinner and then hung out a bit. it was a fun date night and were hoping to do that again.
Those are the majors things to talk about, we are looking forward to christmas and are picking up our tree this weekend, angelika is a bit off  christmas nut so the house will be christmas like very soon. I am off to go on a hot date with someone (Angelika) so time to take the kids to opa and oma humm.

Big sister

Well, Madison is such a great big sister.  The first thing she says to me when i get her in the mornings is 'Lukas???"  Then i went to mom and dads and when it was time to go, Madison wasn't putting her shoes and Jacket on so dad said to her.  'Ok, bye madison.  Opa is going with Lukas, Bye, Bye.'  Man did we experience a freak out on her behalf.  Lastly.  Mom and i were in Superstore when mom started to walk away with the cart while Lukas was in it.  I wasn't going with her and Madison started crying.  I told her to go with Oma, but that just wasn't good enough.  She had to keep all three of us together.  Im so thankful that she adjusted so easily.  I think because she's so young still, she doesn't remember a time without Lukas anymore.  Hopefully she remains that way when we have another one.  Then she really can help me out more.

Lukas Hummelman

Lukas Edward Hummelman was born on October 15, 2008 @ 2:06 am after 5 minutes of pushing.  I was induced and within the first half hour the contractions started and didn't stop.  So that means 11:30am on the 14th until he was born.  My water didn't break until 2 am though so i guess thats when people start counting actually labour.  We definately weren't expecting to see a little boy when he came so it was quite the surprise for Jake and I. Jake was overwhelmed with the idea of having a little boy.
We couldn't have been luckier with Madison either.  She is doing great and so excited to have a little brother.  She doesn't understand how careful to be around Lukas, but keeps going back for more.

I'll keep everyone updated as time goes on though, but for now, Jake, Madison and I are just enjoying this addition to our family and the changes that come with him.

Birthdays and soon to be babies

We are only 11 days away from Angelikas due date, looking forward to the craziness of a tiny baby (as madison calls them) in the house. We both had our birthdays in september with me turning 25 and Angelika turning 28. For Angelikas birthday we brought down her best friend from invermere and she stayed with us for the week. Madison will still randomly ask where theo (karens oldest) is.
We also went to the MCC sale with Rachel Cornelsen, Andrew was taking his hunting license so i was forced to eat his share of farmer sausage. It was pretty cool and next year i will sit at the auction all day buying things. love auctions.
Angelika has developed a pretty bad cough for the last ten days and hasnt been sleeping well/at all, she is looking forward to getting some sleep before the baby comes and she will start losing it again, my responsibility at night will be madison (easy) and during the day to make sure i give her lots of attention when the baby comes, which means we are going to drive over speed bumps and visit home depot and most likely watch hockey together. I will post as soon as the baby arrives, im sure im allowed labtops in the hospital.

Vacation Time

I was afraid to tackle what amounted to like 300 pictures after our vacation, but i have finally done so. There are many more on facebook but i chose a couple of our favorites.  This year we went camping to Osooyos state park but we were short most of the normal group and this year went with Steve and Rachel Golz and there kids (Kyle,Adrianna, stephanie, jessica). We had a great time with them and they even brought up a seadoo. I broke the seadoo....the seadoo broke while i was on it but it was the last day. The weather was close to 40 degrees over the weekend. We had a mint time with them and on monday they left, leaving me and angelika to ourselves for a few days, unfortunately it started raining that night and downpoured the next day, after a few hours of this and being trapped inside i decided to pack up and go to a hotel, so we did all this in the pouring rain and made our way to the holiday inn.
We spent a few days at the holiday inn and our parents came and joined us for two nights. We had lots of fun mini-golfing and go-karting with them, madison went with me in a go-kart and also went bumber boating when the golzs were there. we finished off our week in shuswap lake with friends(karen and Skylar) from invermere, the weather wasnt good or bad but we got some more mini-golfing in and had fun watching the kids hang out together. Fires and smores were a big hit, so was the substantial amount of junk food karen brought along.
In other news my work schedue was changed quite substantially, instead of meeting in New Westminster at 8 and not starting work till 8:30-9 i know go to 160th street and meet at 6:15, the bonus is i get home alot earlier but (try) to go to bed earlier. So far i like the new schedule. Angelika is going to be in her last week of work after tomorrow and October 17 baby is due so lots of changes going on again. Time for some sloppy joe's.

I started downloading photos off our camera today and as i went through them i couldnt help but laugh, i thought i would share some of the photos that made laugh the most, the photo where she is wearing my glasses reminds of someone but i cant place who but it looks very familiar.
In other news some friends of our, Andrew and Rachel Cornelsen had there baby (4 weeks early) on the afternoon of there cousins wedding. Pretty cool story as Rachels hair and make-up were done so she looked pretty smoking when  she came in. We got to see Asher Cornelsen on tuesday night and then again on Sunday as we spent the day talking, walking, eating roll kuchen and watermelon and watching movies.
The basement (shudder) finally got some walls put up, i helped my father in-law, well not so much helped as he told where to stand and what to do and HOW to do it. This meant i could finish off some plumbing and hang our cool little water heater on the wall (non-stop hot water,15 hour shower here i come) i also needed to turn our water off to change some pipes and as i was sitting in the crawlspace doing this Angelika came down and asked why there was watering bubbling out of the ground. So our water service had cracked and had to dig up the yard fix the leak temporarily and then on sunday morning before church i dug up the yard and replaced about 20 feet going into the house. that was a gong show.
We were around this long weekend for the first time in 4 years, usually we are camping but this year we will be gone from aug.15th - 24. hope your all enjoying your summer so far.

Holland is out

I dont follow soccer much but whenever there is a world cup the very little bit of dutch left in me (mainly swear words and drinking my tea with milk) awakes to cheer for the Nederlands, they lost yesterday to Russia and now are out, so back into hiding it goes until the olympics.
Since our last post we went to prince george to celebrate Andrew groses grad, we stole plenty of free pop and saw some people getting it on in a public park, classic prince george. We visited the Hubers of the North and i thoroughly remember enjoying some pie. We went out to moxies for dinner which was pretty sweet and even met Baileys parents (andrews girlfriend) all in all it was a good time, the drive home i was dreading cause it is quite boring, we had mark with us and he brought a psp to play he needed some protection from the sun so he wore madison sweater on his head for 2 hours. everyone pretty much slept and i was on my own for most of the drive.
We finally got around to the basement again and made sone progress the ground is patched and now all the above drainage has bin replaced and is ready to go, next step is water pipe which i can do at night and then some framing. After repairing the concrete in the basement we had Andrew and Rachel over for dinner and we ended up talking till late into the night, it was fun and Andrew volunteered to tile my basement shower, which i of course will attempt to hold him to that.
Madison is her usually goofy self and is quite fun to be around, she skinned both her knees walking on friday to the corner store and continue to pile on the injuried but she is tough and nothing really bothers her, she continues to love the outdoors and think nothing of TV and likes to climb and fall off things quite regularly. So you are now updated on our life, i geuss i should mention Angelikas pregnancy is going well, and other than some uncomfortable sleeping she is enjoying this pregnancy and the thought of being home again quite a bit.

Cache Creek, madison really likes mark

Skinned knees
Rachel making a point is my best geuss
